Oliver Finley Kearns: The Name

Ryan and I prefer names that are a bit more unique, even if they are considered popular, rather than names that are considered traditional. We also wanted to incorporate our love of the natural world that God created into both our boys’ names. We had a short list of favorite boy names, and when we found out we were having another boy it wasn’t hard to narrow it down!
Meaning and History:
Originally from France, Oliver means ‘the olive tree’. The biblical olive tree symbolizes fruitfulness and beauty and dignity. Extending an olive branch signifies an offer of peace.
Meaning and History:
Finley, an Irish name, means ‘fair hero’ or fair-haired warrior’, and has also been known to mean ‘sunbeam’.

We’re a family of blondes, and Oliver did arrive with a bit of blonde hair, so we can only hope he stays true to his name with white-blonde hair like his brother, Raleigh!
